Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Multiskilled Engineer with a Mechanical or HVAC bias to join our team and provide high-level building maintenance support for our clients. As part of a dedicated team of technical support staff, you will ensure that services meet contractual obligations while complying with relevant regulations and legislation. Your role will focus on maintaining and optimizing Mechanical and HVAC systems, carrying out both Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and Reactive Maintenance to ensure operational efficiency.



Key Responsibilities:

-Perform planned preventative and reactive maintenance across all Mechanical and HVAC systems, including but not limited to heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), and water systems

-Diagnose faults and carry out repairs within agreed response times, ensuring all work is documented accurately.

-Conduct routine checks and repairs on mechanical installations such as ventilation systems, fan motors, belts, filters, and heating/cooling systems.

-Ensure all maintenance activities comply with relevant health and safety legislation and company policies (including fire regulations, COSHH, PPE, and safe working practices).

-Maintain and repair installations such as ventilation systems (AHU, intake/extract), heating and cooling systems (thermal wheels, FCUs), and water system assets.

-Collaborate with engineers, subcontractors, and clients to ensure a proactive approach to maintenance and service delivery.

-Comply with risk management procedures and ensure all documentation is completed accurately and on time.

-Ensure that all equipment, plant rooms, and services are kept clean, safe, and secure.

-Prioritise your workload effectively while assisting other engineers and staff as required.

-Attend to emergency repairs and ensure all reactive calls are closed within the agreed response times.

-Liaise with clients to address concerns and ensure high standards of customer service are maintained.

-Ensure that all assets are maintained in accordance with O&M manuals and contractual obligations.

-Participate in ongoing training and development to stay current with industry standards and technologies.



Essential Qualifications and Experience:

-Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (e.g., C&G Level 3 or Level 5, NVQ, BTEC).

-Multi-skilled engineering experience with a strong focus on HVAC systems.

-Comprehensive knowledge of building services disciplines, including heating, hot water, ventilation, refrigeration, environmental systems, electrical power and distribution, and public health.

-Strong practical experience with building services, including Fan Motors, Belts and Filters, Fan Coil Units (FCUs), AHUs, and other HVAC equipment.

-Knowledge of Health & Safety, Permit to Work procedures, and safe systems of working.

-Good understanding of current building statutory compliance and Health & Safety legislation.

-Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively at all levels.

-Ability to work proactively and independently with a strong focus on quality service delivery.



Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

-Unvented qualification and experience with hot water/heating systems or experience with chillers, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems.

-HVAC certification (e.g., C&G 2079 F Gas or equivalent) and/or gas qualifications.

-IOSH or equivalent health and safety qualification.

-C&G 2391/2 18th Edition IEE regulations.

Additional Information:

-Manual handling, working at heights, and working in confined spaces may be required.

-This role requires strict adherence to Mitie's safety and security policies and may include working in sensitive environments.

-No call outs required — this role operates on a fixed Monday-Friday schedule with no shift work.

-Uniform and all necessary tools are fully supplied by Mitie.

Additional Information

MOD security clearance and DBS Standard required. To meet national security vetting requirements, you will normally need to have been resident in the UK for at least 3 years to gain a Counter Terrorist Check, 5 years for Security Clearance and 10 years for Developed Vetting prior to the date of application. All Developed Vetted posts are required to be UK Nationals.
