Somerset Council are looking for an experienced/Senior Qualified Social Worker to fill a unique short term locum position (12 weeks). This role will require a specific yet diverse skill set.

There are two key parts to this role:

Supervising Leaving Care Workers (PAs), reviewing and authorising Pathway Plans, and supporting the Team Leader by providing additional capacity (see attached Team Leader job description for information on this aspect of the role)
Starting and progressing the process for Ofsted registration for Somerset’s supported lodging service, Stepping Stones, alongside a Registered Service Manager and Nominated Individual.
What we’re looking for...

You will need to be a qualified and significantly experienced social worker registered with Social Work England. You will have experience working with children and families in social work, within a Local Authority team, and experience within Leaving Care. You will be an experienced systemic practitioner with a creative yet pragmatic approach to practice, and have proven staff management and leadership experience. You will have experience of residential care and support for children looked after and the regulations which govern this; it may be that you have direct experience as a Registered Service Manager within residential or supported accommodation.

You will be a competent IT user, able to use or learn to use LiquidLogic.

You will need to hold a full driving licence and have access to your own vehicle.

In Somerset, we have a hybrid working model. Whilst this role can involve some working from home, you will also need to live within travelling distance of the office base at Shepton Mallet in Somerset, in order to spend time working alongside the team on a regular basis, and you will need to have access to a vehicle due to the size and rural nature of the area we cover.

What we offer...

We are proud to offer an environment that is supportive and rewarding, within a friendly team who are passionate about the work that they do to improve the lives of people in Somerset. We are continuing to develop our use of motivational interviewing to support families with identifying opportunities for change and working to achieve and sustain this alongside them, with the support of our multi-agency partners.

We have experienced managers who will provide regular formal and informal supervision. .
