The Role
A Team Manager is required to lead the Family Safeguarding Team, providing operational management and professional oversight during a period of recruitment challenge. The postholder will supervise six social workers supporting children and families under Child in Need, Child Protection, PLO and Care Proceedings. The role requires strong leadership, reflective supervision, performance management and the ability to drive high‑quality practice in a fast‑paced statutory environment.

Key Responsibilities
Lead the delivery of high‑quality safeguarding and family support services.

Line manage, supervise and mentor a team of Family Safeguarding Social Workers.

Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, HCPC professional standards and best practice.

Oversee caseloads to ensure timely assessments, planning and interventions.

Provide reflective supervision, case oversight and management direction.

Chair key meetings including PLO, Care Diversion, Complex Safety and Risk Management.

Work collaboratively with health, education, police, CAFCASS and voluntary partners.

Monitor performance using team data, supervision and appraisal processes.

Ensure children have up‑to‑date, outcome‑focused plans and are visited in line with statutory timescales.

Manage delegated budgets appropriately, ensuring resources are prioritised for vulnerable families.

Contribute to service development as part of the county and area management teams.

Candidate Requirements
Qualified Social Worker with SWE registration.

Significant post‑qualification experience within children’s safeguarding.

Proven leadership or team management experience.

Strong assessment, planning and risk‑management skills.

Ability to lead teams in a high‑pressure statutory environment.

Full compliance documentation required.
