Location: Trinity Road, Bootle, Merseyside, L20 3NJ
Hours: 36 per week
Start Date: 26 January 2026
Rate: PAYE £24.36 per hour / Limited/Umbrella £31.95 per hour

The Role
The Assistant Team Manager will support the effective operational delivery of Children’s Social Care services, providing leadership, oversight, and guidance to Social Workers within the team. The role ensures high standards of practice, timely decision‑making, and compliance with statutory responsibilities, policies, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
Provide day‑to‑day supervision, support, and direction to Social Workers.

Oversee casework to ensure safe, consistent, and high‑quality practice.

Support the Team Manager with performance management, workflow oversight, and service delivery.

Contribute to decision‑making on complex cases, ensuring timely progression and risk management.

Promote best practice, reflective supervision, and continuous professional development within the team.

Ensure compliance with legislation, statutory guidance, and local safeguarding procedures.

Work collaboratively with internal and external partners to achieve positive outcomes for children and families.

Support service improvement initiatives and contribute to quality assurance activities.

Candidate Requirements
Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.

Proven experience within Children’s Social Care, including complex case management.

Previous supervisory or leadership experience within a statutory setting.

Strong understanding of safeguarding, risk assessment, and relevant legislation.

Excellent communication, organisational, and decision‑making skills.

Ability to work collaboratively and maintain high professional standards.

Commitment to promoting positive outcomes for children, young people, and families.
