Summary
Futures in STEM is an online academic and pastoral support programme for underrepresented Year 12 students who are considering studying Chemistry, Maths, Computer Science, Engineering or Physics at university. Students have the opportunity to take part in a variety of online subject specific tutorials, mentoring, guest lectures and activities designed to prepare them for university study and to help make sure they are ready to apply for, and succeed, in Higher Education. The programme administrator will be based in the Science Engagement Team (Faculty of Science) and will work with colleagues across the Faculty as well as central teams across the University. The programme administrator is a vital role for the Futures in STEM programme. The role will include maintaining accurate records of participant applications and attendance; arranging and trouble shooting online sessions on MS Teams; communicating with participants, tutors and mentors and monitoring shared mailboxes associated with the programme; organising guest lectures; supporting the programme team in developing, managing, updating and uploading programme materials (such as safeguarding and training materials); supporting the recruitment process for new cohorts of participants; overseeing and line managing tutors, mentors and interns, including completing timecards and supporting the delivery of training sessions; keeping the programme team up to date on the latest progress and making the team aware of any issues that need attention.
As part of the Science Engagement Team, the programme administrator will also have other reasonable responsibilities outside of the Futures in STEM programme on an ad-hoc basis. These will include monitoring shared inboxes, managing social media, supporting event planning, managing databases and purchasing.
The appointed Programme Administrator will work a hybrid work pattern (arrangements to be discussed with the line manager) in the Mountjoy Centre where the Science Engagement Team will be located from January 2026 onwards.
