About the role:
Powys County Council is seeking a dynamic and experienced Professional Lead – Strategic Planning. This role is pivotal in steering a strategic programme aimed at achieving Net Zero and addressing the council's climate emergency response. You will also be responsible for developing planning policies that align with our corporate vision and overseeing place planning initiatives, including the Welsh Government's Transforming Towns initiative. This position focuses on our Stronger, Fairer, Greener transformation delivery programme.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a strategic programme of transformation towards Net Zero.
- Coordinate the council's response to the climate emergency.
- Develop and implement planning policies in accordance with the corporate vision.
- Oversee the delivery of place planning and contribute to the Welsh
Government's Transforming Towns initiative.
- Establish effective governance for the strategic planning team.
- Ensure projects deliver the required outcomes within defined quality, time, and cost constraints.
- Achieve the full realization of benefits as outlined in business cases.

- Proven experience in strategic planning and programme management. - Strong leadership and team management skills. - Excellent understanding of climate emergency response initiatives and
