Are you eager to launch a rewarding career in project management with a leading energy company? UK Power Networks is seeking a motivated Trainee Project Manager to join our Capital Programme team in Bury St Edmunds. This is a permanent position offering a competitive salary of £46,164 plus a 3% bonus.
As a Trainee Project Manager, you will play a crucial role supporting Project Managers and Programme Managers in delivering Capital Investment and Connections projects. You will be immersed in a structured development pathway, gaining both general project management skills and in-depth understanding of project delivery within our Capital Programme and Procurement team. Through a combination of formal training and hands-on experience, you will develop the competencies needed to progress towards the Assistant Project Manager position. Your journey will begin with foundational learning and gradually move to independent management of contract sub-packages and smaller projects, all under expert guidance.
We believe in nurturing talent and offer a generous package of benefits to support your wellbeing and career progression. Enjoy 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, private medical cover, enhanced reservist leave, and a personal pension plan with up to 10% employer contribution.
As a Trainee Project Manager, you will support project delivery and learn to manage work packages, produce project documentation, assist in monthly reporting, facilitate interdisciplinary meetings, and help identify and manage project risks and opportunities. You will gain experience across all aspects of project management including quality, cost, governance, stakeholder engagement, and sustainability. You will collaborate with a diverse range of internal stakeholders such as Portfolio Managers, Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors, Planners, Procurement and Design Teams, as well as external partners including local authorities, contractors, and customers. Exposure to LV/HV or EHV electrical distribution networks is desirable, as is progress towards professional membership (IEE, ICE, APM), and prior experience in project delivery will be an advantage.
