Location: Grosvenor Hotel, Plymouth
Contract Type: Zero‑hours
Shift Lengths: Approximately 4 to 24 hours per shift
About the Role
The Grosvenor Hotel in Plymouth is looking for a reliable and flexible Hotel Caretaker / All‑Rounder to support the day‑to‑day running of the hotel. This role is ideal for someone practical, customer‑focused, and comfortable working independently.
You will be responsible for a wide range of duties, helping to ensure guests receive a welcoming and well‑run experience at all times.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Answering telephone calls and responding to guest enquiries
Managing and replying to emails
Welcoming guests, checking guests in, and assisting them with questions or requests
Serving guests at the hotel bar when required
Cleaning guest rooms and maintaining cleanliness in hotel areas
Setting up and preparing breakfast service when needed
Carrying out basic maintenance and minor repairs as required
General caretaking and oversight of the property
Completing additional reasonable tasks as requested by the General Manager
Being on call overnight when required (a private room will be provided for overnight shifts)
Hours & Flexibility
This is a zero‑hours position
Shifts may range from short half‑day shifts (around 4 hours) to full 24‑hour shifts, depending on hotel needs
Flexibility is essential, including availability for evenings and overnight cover
Pay
Pay is offered at fixed rates depending on the shift type:
Half‑day rate
Full‑day rate
Full‑day + overnight on‑call rate

About You
Reliable, trustworthy, and self‑motivated
Friendly and confident when dealing with guests
Able to manage a variety of tasks independently
Practical mindset with basic maintenance skills
Previous hotel, hospitality, caretaking, or cleaning experience is desirable but not essential
