Description
The Senior Planner – Development Management (Gr H/I)* is a pivotal role within our organization, responsible for driving the management of planning applications and development proposals in alignment with local, regional, and national policy frameworks. You will work closely with various stakeholders including developers, community groups, and government agencies to facilitate the successful delivery of projects that enhance the built environment. As a senior member of our planning team, you will provide expert guidance and strategic direction in the assessment of planning applications, ensuring compliance with regulations and contributing to sustainable development practices. This role requires a keen understanding of planning legislation, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to interpret complex datasets. You will play an essential role in public consultations and will represent the organization at meetings and hearings, advocating for the community's interests while balancing development needs. In addition to managing workloads and deadlines, you will mentor junior planners, share knowledge, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our development management processes. Your expertise will be crucial in navigating challenging projects and ensuring that they align with our vision for the future of sustainable urban development. Responsibilities
Manage and assess planning applications and development proposals in accordance with local and national policies.
Liaise with applicants, stakeholders, and community members to convey planning requirements and gather feedback.
Conduct site visits and investigations to evaluate environmental and urban impacts of proposed developments.
Prepare detailed reports and recommendations for planning committee meetings and public inquiries.
Monitor and ensure compliance with planning conditions and legal agreements.
Mentor and provide guidance to junior planners and interns to foster professional development and teamwork.
Participate in public consultations and represent the organization in external meetings and hearings.
Collaborate with other departments and agencies to facilitate integrated planning processes and solutions.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Environmental Science, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in development management or urban planning.
Strong knowledge of planning legislation, policies, and procedures at local and national levels.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to assess complex development proposals.
Experience in public consultation processes and stakeholder engagement.
Proficient in planning software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively present information and advocate for planning positions.
Hours Per Week: 37.00
Start Time: 09:00
End Time: 17:00
Pay Per Hour: £24.83
