Crynodeb
Undertake total care of allocated patients, to include admissions, discharges, observations, clinical procedures, pre and postoperative care and advice on health promotion to both patients and their relatives. Work within the early pregnancy assessment clinic, assessing patients attending with early pregnancy complications. This may involve caring and administering medications for the termination of pregnancy. Be involved in the planning of care in conjunction with protocols and policies. Ensure an excellent standard of contemporaneous record keeping related to patient care, both written and electronic. Contribute towards a safe environment for patients, staff, and members of the public, reporting any accidents and untoward occurrences to the Ward Leader. Be involved in audit and research. Have a working understanding of referral processes related to Safeguarding, The Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Assessment. Maintain close, effective communication with other staff in the multi-professional team, and report changes in condition to the appropriate staff immediately. Establish effective communication with patients and their relatives, ensuring that they are informed of their condition, progress and after care arrangements as necessary. Be familiar with and adhere to Nursing Policies, Procedures and Guidelines. Adhere strictly to the produce laid down for the custody, checking, and administration of all drugs, reporting any discrepancies immediately to the WHU Ward Leader. Ensure that there is effective liaison with Support Services within primary and secondary care, to provide continuity of care following discharge of patients from hospital. Undertake other Duties as requested by the Ward Leader for WHU.
