Renfrewshire Council is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Roads Project Officer to help deliver our ambitious roads infrastructure programme. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to major investment projects that improve connectivity, safety, and quality of life across Renfrewshire.
Reporting to the Senior Roads Engineer, you will play a key role in managing small to medium-sized projects and workstreams within larger programmes. You will support the development, planning, and delivery of roads infrastructure projects, ensuring they meet Council priorities and deliver measurable benefits for our communities.
You will prepare tender documentation, manage contracts, monitor budgets, and oversee contractor performance to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and to specification. You will also coordinate stakeholder engagement, support funding applications, and use specialist software such as AutoCAD, GIS, and asset management systems.
Your work will involve close collaboration with internal teams, external partners, and third-party suppliers, ensuring compliance with statutory duties and health and safety regulations.
It is essential you have a relevant professional qualification or experience in service areas under Environment & Infrastructure aswell as a Minimum HNC qualification in civil engineering or HNC in construction and project management and relevant experience in road construction/maintenance.
You must have significant experience in multi-disciplinary project work, a proven track record in financial management and experience of working with key partners to develop and deliver projects with the ability to manage a diverse workload and meet deadlines
Effective communication, presentation and written skills aswell as influencing and negotiation skills and effective project management and co-ordination skills are essential.
You must be able to manage risk and be accountable for decisions taken and have highly developed organisational skills, managing effective prioritisation and consistent delivery against targets across the service.
Experience in capital investment programmes, CDM, and local authority work is desirable
A current driving licence is also desirable but not essential.
