Job Description

West Dunbartonshire Council is committed to delivering high-quality, customer-focused services that support our communities, to assist thus we are seeking a motivated and experienced Housing Support and Resettlement Co-ordinator to join our Housing Development and Homelessness team.

This role plays a key part in leading an exemplar housing support and resettlement service, ensuring compliance with legislation, and working in partnership to provide holistic support for vulnerable populations, including those arriving through humanitarian routes.

This new post will lead and co-ordinate the implementation of policies, procedures, and action plans related to housing support and resettlement across West Dunbartonshire. You will ensure compliance with the Scottish Social Housing Charter, Scottish Social Services Council, and other regulatory frameworks, while contributing to an integrated service that meets community needs. As the Council's Lead Officer for housing support programs, you will design and implement initiatives for vulnerable groups, monitor budgets, manage staff, and foster partnerships with statutory, voluntary, and external agencies such as the Scottish Government, Uk Government and support providers.
Key responsibilities include:
• Managing the delivery of housing support and resettlement services in line with Council policies and New Scots strategic principles.
• Developing comprehensive project plans, planning resources, and participating in multi-agency working groups.
• Leading on refugee and asylum seeker programs, ensuring compliance with Home Office/Scottish Government guidance.

The role involves strategic planning, problem-solving, and decision-making with a high degree of autonomy, focusing on eradicating homelessness and improving housing access

Requirements

This post is considered a Regulated Role with Children and Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2020 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found here.

Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.

Responsibilities

The employment for which you are applying is excepted from the provisions of section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order 1975. Applicants are, therefore, not statutorily entitled to withhold information about convictions which for other purposes are "spent" under the provisions of the Act. In the event of employment any failure to disclose such convictions could result in dismissal or disciplinary action.
