Job Description
Reporting to the Head of Service for Infrastructure Asset Management, you will be responsible for operational and strategic management of the city’s lighting and electrical assets.
You will lead teams of Managers, Engineers, Technicians and Inspectors and be responsible for the management of significant Capital & Revenue budgets. You will provide leadership and the vision to transform how Glasgow’s Lighting Assets will evolve to meet current and future needs.
You will have effective leadership and motivation skills and excellent communication and influencing skills. You will have substantial experience of managing staff and work allocation and good negotiating and analytical and numeracy skills on complex issues. You will be able to demonstrate knowledge of budgetary control and applying KPI’s. You will have a proven track record in the creation and delivery of projects and of managing complex operations within public lighting with a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement.
You will be able to demonstrate political awareness and knowledge of the Health & Safety at Work Act, CDM Regulations and NRSWA. You should have sound working knowledge of current Wiring Regulations, Technical Standards and Codes of Practice to electrical distribution.
You will have a degree/HND/HNC or equivalent level qualification in Electrical / Electronic Engineering, a valid Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS) card and Health and Safety Assessment Certificate as well as City & Guilds 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations (BS7671) 2008. You should also be a Member of the Institution of Lighting Professionals (ILP) or Institution of Engineering Technology (IET) and have a full, current driving licence.
