To provide support for a 14-year-old young male who has Subcortical band heterotopia (a rare neuronal migration disorder), Epilepsy, Autism and a Learning Disability. Main DutiesWe are currently looking to recruit a Support Worker to enable this young person to access enjoy age-appropriate leisure activities both at home and in the local community. He has difficulties following instructions and completing tasks and this can be upsetting for him and can affect how he regulates his emotions. It is important that he knows in advance what the plans will be for the day, as he finds any changes in routine very difficult and needs time to prepare himself. Due to his Autism, he can sometimes struggle to understand both verbal and non-verbal communication and also retain information; meaning he needs to be told clearly and specifically what is required of him.When at home this young person enjoys playing on the Xbox (Fortnite) and also likes playing on his Nintendo switch (Smashbros) and the Mario board game. He loves telling people facts about dinosaurs and his marvel figures. Outside of home he enjoys crazy golf and going for a drive; as the motion of the car relaxes him. Due to the Epilepsy this young person has, which can include Tonic-clonic seizures, full training will be provided for his Support Worker before the role commences.Hours5 hours per week. Specific days will be discussed with interested applicants.
Rate of pay£13.74 per hour. Holidays are 5.6 weeks per year pro-rata.Out of pocket expenses will be met by the employer.

  • have experience of working with children and young people who have complex needs
  • be able to respond positively and sensitively to any changes in behaviour
  • have a high degree of initiative
  • have a positive understanding and genuine interest in supporting children and young people within their communities
  • be punctual and reliable as the child cannot be left unsupervised
  • be flexible
  • have a happy, positive and caring nature
  • respect confidentiality
Car driver essential and must have business insurance.AN ENHANCED DBS CHECK IS REQUIRED – COST TO BE MET BY EMPLOYER.
