To provide support for a 6-year-old male child with a diagnosis of Unbalanced Chromosome Translocation which is a rare and complex genetic condition which impacts upon his health and development. This little boy also has vision impairment, mobility difficulties and several food intolerances. While he is unable to communicate verbally, he can make some of his needs known
We are looking to recruit an experienced and caring Personal Assistant for this little boy to enable him to access leisure activities in the local community. He loves exploring and especially enjoys playgrounds, soft play areas, water play, and all kinds of messy activities. On occasion the support may also take place at his home address.
Main Duties
· Due to the child’s complex healthcare needs you will be required to undertake training, which will be provided.
· Always provide 1:1 close supervision for this little boy as he is totally reliant upon adults to support with all aspects of his care and ensure his safety.
· Provide support with personal care.Hours
4 hours per week during term-time weeks on Saturdays. 8 hours per week during all school holiday weeks; required on two weekdays for 3 hours per day and 2 hours on Saturdays.
Rate of pay
£13.74 per hour. Holiday entitlement is 5.6 weeks per year pro-rata.
Any out-of-pocket expenses will be met by the employer.
Person Specification
The successful applicant must:
· Have experience and a positive understanding about children who have disabilities
· Have a genuine interest in working with children with complex needs
· Have a high degree of initiative
· Be punctual and reliable as the child cannot be left unsupervised.
· Be flexible and have a happy, positive and caring nature
· Respect confidentiality
Full, clean driving licence required and must be insured for business use.
The successful candidate will require an Enhanced Certificate of Disclosure (DBS), cost to be met by employer.
