Technician Engineer

JM 23 and 24

£15.85 per hour PAYE

Contract Length: 6 months

37 hours per week

Location: Flintshire


Our client is seeking a skilled Cable Bay Technician to join their team in Flintshire. In this role, you will be responsible for the manufacture, testing, and repair of avionics, maritime, ground, and weapons system cables, wiring harnesses, and looms. The position requires a high level of precision and technical expertise to ensure compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards. You will work with engineering drawings and diagrams to deliver timely and efficient solutions, contributing to a team environment focused on meeting performance targets and driving continuous improvement.
To apply for this role you must be PTT qualified and certified, hold an NVQ Level 2 in Performing Engineering Operations and NVQ Level 3 in Aeronautical Engineering (Manufacturing Aircraft Wiring Looms), ONC equivalent, or recognised apprenticeship/industry experience. Good demonstrated experience in cable manufacture and repair in a relevant technical environment. Proficient in hand skills such as crimping, soldering, wire stripping, and use of heat guns and winding machinery. Good understanding of electrical and mechanical tools.
Key Responsibilities:



Manufacture and repair cable assemblies, looms, and harnesses to exacting standards.


Read, interpret, and work from complex engineering drawings and diagrams.


Use electrical and mechanical test equipment for diagnostics and verification.


Complete all required documentation to maintain a clear audit trail.


Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality regulations.


Collaborate with production and other business teams to support innovation and efficiency.


Inspect completed work to ensure conformity to design and customer specifications.


Support coordination of cable projects, including tooling, documentation, and testing.


Essential Skills & Qualifications:


Strong ability to interpret electrical and mechanical drawings/diagrams.


Skilled in using electrical and mechanical test equipment for serviceability checks and fault-finding.


Proficient in hand skills such as crimping, soldering, wire stripping, and use of heat guns and winding machinery.


In-depth knowledge of cable manufacture techniques (harnesses, looms, terminations, and connections).


PTT qualified and certified.


NVQ Level 2 in Performing Engineering Operations and NVQ Level 3 in Aeronautical Engineering (Manufacturing Aircraft Wiring Looms), ONC equivalent, or recognised apprenticeship/industry experience.


Demonstrated experience in cable manufacture and repair in a relevant technical environment.


Understanding of safe practices when working with live electrical systems.


Desirables:


Experience in repairs and modifications of components across varying complexities.


Competency with both electrical and mechanical hand tools.


Knowledge of theoretical and practical electronics.


Ability to interpret complex circuit diagrams.
