What the Client is Looking For:
Bolton Council is seeking a Finance and Business Support Assistant with strong financial administration skills and a proven track record of using Oracle systems.
This role is ideal for someone who:
Has solid experience of Oracle, both system use and understanding
Is familiar with Council governance, procurement, and financial regulations
Can maintain accurate financial records and manage complex financial processes
Is organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable working to deadlines in a busy environment
Strong communication skills are essential, as you will be liaising with suppliers, project managers, and finance teams on a regular basis.
The Role
As a Finance and Business Support Assistant, you will provide comprehensive financial and administrative support to the Corporate Property Team.
You will play a key role in managing capital project finances, ensuring compliance with Council governance and procurement rules, and supporting budget monitoring and reporting.
This is a great opportunity to apply your financial administration experience and Oracle expertise in a fast-paced local government setting, contributing to essential Council projects and services.
Key Responsibilities
In this varied and important role, you will:
Raise and process Purchase Orders (POs) in Oracle in line with Council procurement rules
Process and validate supplier invoices against POs and contracts
Maintain accurate financial records for capital projects, including commitments and accruals
Support budget monitoring, forecasting, and reporting for capital projects
Assist with financial returns and audit requirements
Liaise with suppliers, project managers, and finance teams to resolve queries
Ensure compliance with Council governance, financial regulations, and procurement policies
Maintain clear documentation and filing systems for audit and governance purposes
Provide administrative support for capital project meetings, including minute-taking and report collation
