Are you a recent graduate passionate about supporting children with special educational needs? Do you aspire to work in education, psychology, or child development?

A friendly and inclusive primary school in Birmingham is looking for a dedicated 1:1 SEN Support Assistant to work closely with a Year 7 student with autism. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is patient, empathetic, and eager to make a difference.

Your Role as a 1:1 SEN Support Assistant

You will be working on a one-to-one basis with a Year 7 student, helping them to access the curriculum and develop socially, emotionally, and academically. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing consistent 1:1 classroom support tailored to the student’s individual needs


  • Assisting with transitions, communication, and regulation strategies


  • Adapting learning activities under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO


  • Encouraging the development of independence, confidence, and social skills


  • Monitoring progress and supporting with any behavioural or emotional challenges


    Who We're Looking For
    • A graduate with a degree in Psychology, Education, or a related subject (2:1 or above preferred)


    • Someone with a genuine interest in SEN and child development


    • Calm, compassionate, and resilient – especially when faced with challenging behaviour


    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills


    • Any experience working with children or young people (including voluntary work) is a bonus
