A friendly and inclusive primary school in Birmingham is looking for a dedicated 1:1 SEN Support Assistant to work closely with a Year 7 student with autism. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is patient, empathetic, and eager to make a difference.

Your Role as a 1:1 SEN Support AssistantYou will be working on a one-to-one basis with a Year 7 student, helping them to access the curriculum and develop socially, emotionally, and academically. Your responsibilities will include:

Providing consistent 1:1 classroom support tailored to the student’s individual needs

Assisting with transitions, communication, and regulation strategies

Adapting learning activities under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO
-
Encouraging the development of independence, confidence, and social skills

Monitoring progress and supporting with any behavioural or emotional challenges
Who We're Looking For-
A graduate with a degree in Psychology, Education, or a related subject (2:1 or above preferred)

Someone with a genuine interest in SEN and child development

Calm, compassionate, and resilient – especially when faced with challenging behaviour

Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Any experience working with children or young people (including voluntary work) is a bonus
