To mange all of the on the person equipment (for example weapons, body armour, sights and hearing protection) across the Land Domain. You will fleet manage the equipment including backloading obsolete equipment, fielding new capabilities and balancing holdings across Land. You will be working with personnel from different services, including the Royal Navy, RAF and StratCom, as well as our procurement and logistic support partners.
This role is critical to ensuring that the Army can conduct its role at home and overseas. You will be responsible for ensuring that units have the on the person equipment that they need to be able to deploy. It is an exciting and fast paced role with new capabilities being fielded regularly. The Army is going to triple its lethality by 2030 and this job is in direct support of achieving that goal.
Key responsibilities:
undertake fleet management activities. Including involvement with fielding of new equipment against published plans and re-distribution of equipment following organisational changes.
In conjunction with Army HQ the fleet manager advise on the fielding plan of new equipment.
Execute fielding plans for new and in-service equipment.
Manage ‘on the person equipment’ being backloaded from Ops and Exercises, including the loan pool and stored operational fleet.
Ensure that units have the correct levels of ‘on the person equipment’ to fulfil their role, by directing and actioning unit to unit transfers.
Operate logistics IT systems to obtain stock holdings, values and shortfalls from units. (on the job training can be provided)
Provide advice to the Land Operating Centre on equipment numbers and locations to allow for operational planning.
Provide continuity and substitutes for military Desk Officers within Through Life Support when posts are temporarily gapped, during periods of leave or detached duty (eg training courses).
