We are passionate about making a positive impact on our students’ lives and supporting their educational journey.Role Overview: We are looking for a compassionate and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join our team. As an LSA, you will play a crucial role in supporting the learning and development of our students, working closely with teachers, other staff members and families to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.Please view our short video attached to see what it is like to work at Birch Wood SchoolOutcomes for all pupils are consistently high and we maintained an overall judgement of good as a result of our most recent Ofsted inspection in April 2024.Key Responsibilities: • Encourage our children to become independent learners, to provide support for their welfare, and to support the inclusion of pupils in all aspects of school life
• Be able to work collaboratively with staff and be a good team player
• Promote positive behaviour and social interactions among students, fostering a supportive classroom atmosphere.
• Assist with the physical, emotional, social development of students, offering care and encouragement.
• Help prepare and organise classrooms materials and resources.
• Accompany students on educational outings and activities, ensuring their safety and engagement.
• Communicate effectively with teachers, families and other staff members regarding student progress and any concerns.
• Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.Qualifications and Skills: • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent as a minimum
• Experience working with children particularly those with special educational needs and disabilities, is highly desirable.
• A patient, empathetic and positive attitude.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.We can offer: • A nurturing, caring and friendly environment
