About this role
We are seeking to appoint a permanent post for Lecturer in Thermofluids, to help develop and contribute to teaching, research, and knowledge exchange within the School of Engineering.
This role presents a fantastic opportunity to shape our multidisciplinary Mechanical Engineering education. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, delivering, and leading cutting-edge modules on our engineering programmes, providing mentorship to other staff, students, and contributing to research initiatives and external collaborations. The ideal candidate will be someone with a strong academic background and deep expertise in thermofluids, both computational and experimental. Significant experience in designing and conducting practical experiments in fluids or related fields, both for teaching and research purposes, is essential.
Individuals with a research-oriented mind-set will have the opportunity to explore their passion in engineering, contributing to scholarly activities. If you have a portfolio of research related to Mechanical/Automotive/Aerospace or clear plans to develop one, we encourage you to apply.
Join us to inspire future engineers, drive innovative research, and collaborate with industry leaders to shape the future of engineering education.

About you
We require candidates that have a diverse skill set and who can provide evidence of strong expertise and experience in thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, thermofluid systems, and computational fluid dynamics. We highly value candidates who have a background and knowledge that can help develop our aspiring student engineers.
We particularly welcome candidates to apply who identify as female or Global Majority candidates. The School of Engineering is committed to creating a safe and inclusive working environment for all, and we are passionate about creating teams with diversity of thought and lived experience. Our School has held Athena Swan Bronze award since 2015 and we continue to seek this charter mark. We have a global outlook, through our international and national partnerships and the respective diversity of our staff and students.
The successful applicant will have a Doctoral level qualification in the relevant subject area. Applications will also be considered from an individual with significant and relevant industrial experience backed by professional recognition i.e., CEng with IMechE or similar. A teaching qualification and experience of teaching in higher education is advantageous.
Candidates should be able to showcase evidence of their continuous professional growth in relevant subject areas. The appointee will be part of a team supporting delivery of Mechanical, Automotive or Aerospace degree related modules.
