Quantity Surveyor

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a growing contractor in London. This role gives you the chance to take full commercial responsibility for your own projects, working across a variety of schemes ranging from complex refurbishments to high-value new builds.

Role Overview:

You will be responsible for the end-to-end commercial management of projects, typically ranging between £5m and £30m in value. Working closely with the project team, you will ensure financial targets are met, risks are managed, and client relationships are maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading the commercial function on allocated projects from start to finish
  • Preparing cost plans, budgets, and valuations
  • Managing subcontract procurement, contract negotiation, and payments
  • Assessing and authorising variations, claims, and final accounts
  • Monitoring cash flow and forecasting project spend
  • Producing monthly reports for senior management
  • Working closely with project managers to ensure delivery is on time and within budget
  • Attending client and progress meetings to provide financial updates

Requirements:

  • Minimum 4-5 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor
  • Strong track record of managing projects independently
  • Experience across build, refurbishment, or fit-out projects in London
  • Excellent commercial awareness and knowledge of JCT contracts
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying (RICS membership beneficial)
  • Confident communicator with strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
