Summary
Quantity Surveyor
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a growing contractor in London. This role gives you the chance to take full commercial responsibility for your own projects, working across a variety of schemes ranging from complex refurbishments to high-value new builds.
Role Overview:
You will be responsible for the end-to-end commercial management of projects, typically ranging between £5m and £30m in value. Working closely with the project team, you will ensure financial targets are met, risks are managed, and client relationships are maintained.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading the commercial function on allocated projects from start to finish
- Preparing cost plans, budgets, and valuations
- Managing subcontract procurement, contract negotiation, and payments
- Assessing and authorising variations, claims, and final accounts
- Monitoring cash flow and forecasting project spend
- Producing monthly reports for senior management
- Working closely with project managers to ensure delivery is on time and within budget
- Attending client and progress meetings to provide financial updates
Requirements:
- Minimum 4-5 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor
- Strong track record of managing projects independently
- Experience across build, refurbishment, or fit-out projects in London
- Excellent commercial awareness and knowledge of JCT contracts
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying (RICS membership beneficial)
- Confident communicator with strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
