The Role

We’re recruiting for a Digital Business Continuity Manager here at Justice Digital, to be part of our warm and collaborative Finance, Assurance, Compliance & Transformation team.

The Finance, Assurance, Compliance & Transformation Team supports wider Justice Digital in managing its financial processes and tracking its spend. We are responsible for centralised responses to commissions (requests for information) both internal and external to the MoJ, as well as working closely with the Justice Digital Senior Leadership Team to maximise opportunities to deliver on our strategic objectives. We also work with the Cabinet Office and the Central Digital & Data Office to ensure that all spending is compliant with cross-government standards and controls and that we adhere to MoJ and cross-government standards.

The Digital Compliance Team supports Justice Digital and the wider Ministry of Justice in providing a consistent approach to Digital & Technology delivery.

The team is comprised of four functions,

Business Continuity - the Business Continuity Team is in place to help delivery teams to build, test, and obtain sign off for their business continuity plans.

Audit - the Audit Team, provides a service to Justice Digital, providing a consistent response to external audit requests as well as ensuring Justice Digital is running as efficiently as possible.

Digital Assurance – the Digital Assurance Team provides an interface between CDDO & Justice Digital and manages all Digital & Technology Spend Approval for the whole of the Ministry of Justice.

Standards – the Standards Team provide a one stop shop for Justice Digital on Government functional, digital and technology standards, ensuring that all digital and technology standards are applied consistently.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Continuity Planning:

Partnering with teams across Justice Digital, to guide and support them in producing comprehensive business continuity plans, ensuring that all plans have mitigation procedures in place, so teams can respond to and recover from any disruptions.

Support Justice Digital Teams with identifying critical business functions and processes. Helping them to establish strategies and measures, to mitigate risks and minimise downtime.

Collaborate with business areas and facilitating workshops, to carry out business impact assessments. Ensuring these are recorded and reviewed regularly, to assess potential risks and quantify the financial, operational, regulatory and reputational impacts of any disruptions.

Guide and support teams with defining their critical, business process objectives, including planning recovery times (RTOs) and recovery points (RPOs) for each plan.

Risk Assessment and Mitigation:

Assist Justice Digital Teams with risk assessments to identify potential threats, vulnerabilities and single points of failure that may impact business operations.

Provide advice on risk mitigation strategies and recommend preventive measures to minimise the likelihood and impact of disruptions.

Stay updated on emerging risks, industry trends and regulatory requirements related to business continuity and incorporate them into the engagement process. 

Business Continuity Testing and Maintenance:

Support all areas within Justice Digital in implementing Business Continuity Plans, including regular testing exercises, such as tabletop simulations to validate the effectiveness of business continuity plans.

Support lesson management initiatives by analysing test results, identifying areas for improvement and engaging with areas to update their plans and procedures accordingly.

Support the Digital BC Lead in facilitating training and exercising programs to educate employees on their roles and responsibilities during disruptions. 

Crisis Management and Incident Response:

Support the crisis management framework and incident response procedures to effectively manage and respond to emergencies and disruptions.

Support Justice Digital Teams when they invoke their Business Continuity Plans and stand up a response to an incident

Documentation and Reporting:

Ensure all Justice Digital departments have a maintained, accurate and up-to-date documentation of business continuity plans, procedures and incident reports.

Prepare regular reports on business continuity metrics, testing results and program effectiveness for senior management and regulatory compliance purposes.

Support Digital BC Lead in ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulations and best practices related to business continuity.
