HR Advisor - Part-time (Group Functions)

30 hours per week, over a minimum of 4 days

Ideally Midlands (commutable to Solihull). Hybrid with ad hoc travel

£27,000 - £32,000 per annum (pro-rata) plus up to 10% bonus

This is a brand-new position within our HR team, giving you the opportunity to shape the role and make a real impact.

As HR Adviser, you’ll partner with a Professional Group Function, supporting managers and teams to deliver great employee experiences. Reporting to the HR Business Partner, you’ll be instrumental in building confidence in HR across the business area — helping managers lead effectively, strengthening engagement, and driving consistent people practices that are commercially focused, reduce risk and improve performance.

As part of a large HR team which includes HR shared services and COE you will support a Strategic HR Business Partner deliver within their dedicated business area, working with a Senior HR Adviser and the wider HR team to deliver an exceptional service to a professional support function within a large diverse business.

Key Responsibilities


Stronger leadership capability: Support with equipping line managers to handle day-to-day people issues confidently and consistently, ensuring policy alignment and reducing risk
Positive employee relations outcomes: Resolve absence and performance matters early, escalating only when needed, to maintain a constructive and engaged workplace
Reliable people data & insight: Provide accurate reporting from Excel, HR systems, objectives reports and engagement surveys to support evidence-based decision making
Smooth people processes: Manage ER administration and ER case logging, ensuring clear records and timely actions and regular reporting oversight
Proactive wellbeing & absence management: Track absence trends, coordinate occupational health referrals, and support interventions that improve attendance and wellbeing
Successful change & development projects: Support the delivery of HR change initiatives, annual talent sessions and learning programmes that help leaders grow and adapt
Consistent colleague experience: Promote, support and co-ordinate recognition and reward, engagement, and wellbeing initiatives raising awareness and help to embed programmes and leadership expectations


Key Skills


CIPD Level 5 qualified (or working towards).
Good knowledge of HR principles, practice, and employment law
Confidence in advising managers, handling ER issues and maintaining momentum
Ability to positively challenge and present information clearly
Strong communication skills with the ability to build trust and credibility at all levels
Accuracy and attention to detail in managing data and HR processes
Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and comfort with HR systems
A proactive, collaborative mindset — able to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to think broadly and join the dots and bring a commercial mindset
