Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Security Team at His Majesty’s Naval Base Devonport (HMNBD), a site of national, strategic importance on the waterfront of Plymouth, Devon.
The Nuclear Security Assurance Authority post is a challenging and rewarding role that supports the Naval Base Commander (NBC) with the assurance that HMNB Devonport is compliant with the requirements of MOD security policy.
The job is varied, challenging and busy and is set within a site with a bright future, in a specialist area of importance and potential growth. The key tasks are:
To be responsible for the provision of assurance to NBC Devonport (as the Responsible Person (RP)), that the organisation is working to the principles of Defence Security Conditions detailed in JSP 628 - Security Regulation of the Defence Nuclear Enterprise.
To co-ordinate and manage our interface with the Defence Nuclear Security Regulator (DefNucSyR).
To provide Independent Internal Nuclear Security Assurance on behalf of the Responsible Person.
To manage, undertake and co-ordinate the DefNucSyR Regulatory Interface requirements against JSP 628.
To develop, plan and co-ordinate the regulatory inspection engagement strategy and supporting programme of independent regulatory intervention on behalf of NBC(D).
To maintain the revision, dissemination, co-ordination of, and attendance at (where requested), the DefNucSyR Inspection process.
Production and maintenance of reporting to ensure adherence to the Defence Nuclear Security Regulatory Framework, in accordance with the requirements of the Regulator.
To lead and manage the NBC(D) input into relevant collaborative work with the SDA, NC and Babcock Marine.
Support the maintenance, including claims, arguments and evidence of any Regulatory documents in compliance with JSP 628.
To attend as necessary those meetings that affect the Nuclear Security interface.
To line manage the Nuclear Security Assurance Officer, namely 1 x EO band.
