Summary
To assist the Senior Information Officer (SIO) to implement the Devonport Information Management Strategy and Plan; enabling local stakeholders to manage and exploit information that is compliant with MoD policy for Information Assurance and Data Protection.
To be accountable to the Senior Information Officer for the development, monitoring and improvement of the overall Information Management Capability; defining NBC(D) requirements for efficient information processes enabling effective exploitation of information
To be responsible for ensuring that information is captured, stored, distributed, used, retained, and disposed of in accordance with MOD Information Management Policies as detailed in JSP441 Information, Knowledge, Digital and Data (IKDD) in Defence and Navy Command’s Information Management Directive.
Identify IS support issues, including business change and change control, and provide expert IM/ IHub advice and support in taking initiatives forward.
To be Deputy Intelligent Customer for FMSP Reprographics and /Managed Print Service. Intelligent Customer for ACCS06 and Business Process 20 – Management of Records within NBCD.
To assist the Senior Information Officer (Site Lead) to manage whole site software/IM upgrade programmes.
To conduct annual IKDD and Data Management Assessment (DMA) in accordance with MOD Policy and Navy Directives utilising staff throughout the organisation.
To draft, define and maintain the Information Management Strategy.
To promote and develop tools and techniques to capture, re-use, collaborate on and share knowledge and information effectively and securely.
To develop and maintain the Information Management Plan, and MS SharePoint Site structure for NBC(D) and any future Information Management systems.
To develop and ensure compliance with web management policies and maintain the currency of web pages through effective content management in support of future Internal Communications Strategy.
To manage a network of DI creators/web editors, arranging and conducting training and refreshers as required.
To oversee the information risk and opportunity management processes, briefing the SIO on the level of risk being carried; implementing risk mitigation plans; conducting reviews in anticipation of developing issues.
To identify continuous improvement opportunities for improving efficiency and the management of information.
To act as KIM SME, offering expert advice to teams developing their own shared environments and providing guidance on applying structures and standards.
To manage Information Assurance processes and compliance to maintain information security; ensuring processes, procedures and electronic ways of working conform to legal requirements and provide access to professional expertise in relevant legislation (e.g. Public Records Act, DPA, FOI, Copyright, Environmental Information Regulations, and Computer Misuse Act, et al).
To implement Navy Command Information Management lifecycle and records management policies, providing advice on storage and removal of information/records.
To act as the Local Data Protection Authority to develop and maintain the information asset register, consult with Information Asset Custodians to ensure that information can be easily identified and accessed, conducting regular audits of the asset register as appropriate.
To implement policies for the handling and sharing of information, taking into account central and local information risk policies and standards.
Advise on copyright and information legislation enquiries when requested.
To undertake performance reviews on the level of service provided by Defence Digital Customer Manager team to ensure Defence Digital processes are effective and complete to meet NBC outputs.
To attend the Business Management Forum (BMF) in the role of SME, to provide updates to the organisation.
The Post Holder must adhere to the NBC(D) Diversity and Inclusion Policy.
In line with Civil Service/Ministry of Defence expectations, the successful candidate will be expected to spend a minimum 60% per week in the office. As this role manages a customer facing team, it is likely that this will be closer to 80-100% time in office.
