Our client is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Associate Information Governance Officer to join a vibrant ICT & Workplace Services team. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in ensuring that information is managed securely, transparently, and effectively within a large local authority setting.
If you have a passion for data protection and experience working in local government—particularly with sensitive information relating to Children’s Social Care—we’d like to hear from you.

The Role:
As an Associate Information Governance Officer, you will provide crucial support in all aspects of information and records management, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures.
Key responsibilities include:

Managing formal information access requests, including Data Protection (Subject Access Requests) and Freedom of Information requests.

Collecting, processing, and maintaining information and records.

Applying appropriate security controls to maintain confidentiality, integrity, and availability of business information systems.

Carrying out basic risk assessments for small information systems and maintaining documentation.

Providing administrative support, including compiling and distributing reports.

You will be part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team working in an Agile environment, contributing directly to organisation-wide initiatives that support local residents and businesses. The post may require occasional participation in an out-of-hours support rota, with additional payment offered.

Person Specification:
We are looking for a methodical and detail-oriented individual with strong knowledge of data protection principles and excellent communication skills.

Essential experience includes:

Handling Subject Access Requests (SARs), specifically those relating to Children’s Social Care.

Applying information governance practices within a local government setting.

Conducting detailed redactions and applying exemptions under UK data protection legislation.

Working with social workers and Children’s Services staff to understand sensitivities before disclosure.

Communicating with care-experienced individuals with sensitivity and respect.
