The Role
To support and provide cover for the Library Manager in providing an excellent, inclusive, accessible library service which exceeds the statutory obligations of library provision and is part of a wider educational and social resource for the local community.
About You
The successful candidate will be expected to be an effective communicator – written, face-to-face and over telephone, with great people skills and the ability to build constructive relationships with a wide and diverse audience.
You must possess strong organisational skills; be able to manage your time effectively and work effectively both using your own initiative and as part of a team. You will have the ability to set, monitor and meet targets to fulfil job tasks with good problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general IT skills are required for this role.
Key Tasks
Managing, Soprano, the Library Management System
Meeting and engaging with customers, volunteers and members in library,
Answer customer enquiries
Opening and closing the building
Stock Management – emptying book bins, shelving, weeding stock, etc.
Welcoming and assisting customers with RFID machine, PC use, books, etc.
What we offer:
Contractual hours: Bank
Basic pay will be c£15.00 per hour (subject to confirmation of qualification)
Automatic enrolment into a personal pension plan (subject to meeting qualifying criteria)
Holiday entitlement equivalent to 12.07% of the hours worked
Closing date 19th September 2025
