The catering service employsin excessof 100directly employed staff, producesin excessof10,000mealsaweekand anannual budgetofinexcessof£2M.



Therole willincludeworkingwithalllevelsofclinicalandnon-clinicalstaffacrossallTrustsitesaswellasworking closelywithsuppliersandcontractors, customersoftheservices,keystakeholdersandexternal agencies suchasEnvironmentalHealth/Trading Standards

· Todevelopandimprove relationshipswithclinical teamsandcorporate departments whilstactivelypromotingthe roleofthecatering servicesandbuildingconfidenceinfoodservicesprovided withintheTrust.

· Toactas arole modelforexemplary professional behaviourandinter-professionalrelationships,dealingwithhighlycomplex,contentiousandsensitive informationappropriately.

· Toensureclear verbal and/orwritten communication at alltimesusing1:1’s, appraisals, departmental meetings,team briefingsand‘walkingthefloor’ensuringthatbarrierstounderstandingdue toculturalandlanguagedifferences are overcome.

· Tocommunicate servicechangestogroupsofstaffwhere there maybesignificant barrierstothe proposedservicechange. Negotiating,persuasiveandreasoningskillswillberequiredtodeliver therequiredchangeagendatobringaboutmodernisation.

Toliaisewithoutside agencies suchaslocalauthorityEnvironmentalHealthServicesandTradingStandardstoensure compliance with currentFood SafetyLegislation

· Responsibilityforthedelivery ofpatient, staffandvisitor catering services inaccordancewithdepartmentalHACCP,operationalandTrustpoliciesandprocedures.

· Todeveloplong termstrategies,withparticularreferencetoworkforceandservice configurationtomeet emergingneeds.

· Toplanandreview patient menusandassociatedaspectsofnutritionsupportinconjunctionwithamulti-disciplinaryteam includingdieticians, speechandlanguagetherapists, patientandnursing representativestoensure compliancewithCQCandCQINN requirements regarding nutritionalandhydrationneeds.

· Toensuresystemsareinplacetodeploystaffeffectivelyandefficientlyto meet servicedemands.

· Toensurethat thecatering serviceshave robustContinuity PlansandthatRisk Assessmentsaredevelopedinrelationtoresilience.

· Toprovide patientandcustomer centered services, recognisingthecontributionofcatering servicestotheoverall patient experienceandworkwithDirectoratesin theidentificationanddevelopmentof newmodelsofservice provisiontoimprove patientcare.

· Toensurethat thecateringteamsupportthe PLACEassessmentsandprocessfortheTrust.

· Todevelopandoperateaquality monitoringsystemtoensurethehighest possible standardsaremaintainedat alltimesacrosstherangeofservicestomaximise patient/customer satisfactionandensurethatanyvariancetoperformancetargetsaremanagedpro-actively.

· Tomanagetheresolutionofcomplaints,conflictsandissuesfrompatients,staff, suppliers,otherinternalandexternalservice providersandpartner organisationsinatimelyandappropriate mannerinlinewith theTrustPolicy,proceduresandservice deliveryvaluesandpriorities.
