Please note that these posts are part time and the salary will be pro-rata to the number of hours worked.
West Dunbartonshire HSCP Learning Disability Service delivers high quality community and building based support services to adults with learning disabilities.
We are looking for enthusiastic, committed, motivated and flexible people to join our support team. The community based support service operates 7 am – 9pm, 7 days per week. A rota is in operation and you would be required to work shifts which also includes weekend working. Building based service operates Monday – Friday with varied work hours.
Duties include assisting service users with all aspects of personal care where required, medication administration, home support and accessing community based activities. Building based service provides support to those who require support and facilities that can only be accessed in a building environment Working in a person centered way you will also assist service users to maintain and develop their daily living skills and engage in meaningful activities promoting independence and choice. You will support service users and support staff to develop support plans to achieve identified outcomes.
You must have a minimum SVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent. It is essential that you have experience of working with adults with learning disabilities.
You must be able to demonstrate within your application form that you are reliable and flexible with the ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative. You will also be required to demonstrate that you can communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing) and this would include monitoring and reporting changes in the identified needs of service users including the handling of sensitive information.
You must be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) or achieve registration within 6 months of your start date for community based service.
Requirements
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2020 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found here.
Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.
