Post 1 - 17.5 hours, Permanent.
Post 2 - 35 hours, Fixed Term to 30/03/2026.
West Dunbartonshire HSCP is seeking two passionate and skilled Social Workers to join our Fostering Service within the Children & Families team. Within this role you will play a vital role in both the assessment and support of local foster carers to ensure the best outcomes for care experienced children and young people.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a trauma-informed, relationship-based service that puts children’s rights and wellbeing at the heart of everything we do.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake assessments of prospective foster carers and contribute to panel presentations
- Provide ongoing supervision, support, and training to foster carers
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to match children with suitable foster carers
- Contribute to care planning and permanence decisions
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations and The Promise Scotland
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports for Children’s Hearings and Court
What we are looking for:
- Qualified Social Workers who are registered with the SSSC
- Experience working in fostering, permanence, or children & families social work
- Strong assessment, communication, and report-writing skills
- Commitment to trauma-informed practice and corporate parenting
- Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively across agencies
Requirements
This post is considered a Regulated Role with Adults and Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2020 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found here.
Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.
Responsibilities
