West Dunbartonshire Council is seeking to recruit enthusiastic and skilled Early Learning and Childcare Officers to join our team at various Early Learning and Childcare Centres within West Dunbartonshire Council.
Please note that these posts are all peripatetic, and successful applicants may be relocated to a different centre at any time.
The work pattern for these positions will be Monday - Friday 8.30am - 16.00pm (including 30min unpaid break).
2 x Posts - 35 hrs, Term Time – Balloch ELCC
2 x Post - 35 hrs, Term Time – Levenvale PS ELCC
2 x Posts - 35 hrs, Term Time – Our Lady of Loretto (OLOL) PS ELCC
1 x Post - 35 hrs, Term Time – St Mary’s (Alexandria) ELCC
1 x Post - 21 hrs, Term Time – St Mary’s (Alexandria) ELCC - Work Pattern Monday - Wednesday
1 x Post - 35 hrs, Term Time – Dalmuir ELCC
1 x Post - 35 hrs, 52 weeks – Clydebank ELCC
1 x Post - 17.5 hrs, Term Time – Bellsmyre ELCC - Work Pattern Wk1 - Thursday - Friday and Wk2 - Wednesday - Friday
1 x Post 17.5 hrs, Term Time – St Eunan’s ELCC - Work Pattern Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday AM
Main duties of the post include:-
- Contributing to the provision of a safe, caring, and stimulating nursery environment for all children.
- Supporting and implementing a relevant curriculum in line with national and local guidance.
- Planning, recording, implementing, and evaluating suitable programmes of activities.
- Maintaining and recording children’s progress and assessments.
- Promoting parental participation in the learning process.
Essential Criteria:-
- Experience working with pre-five children in a relevant setting.
- Knowledge of the Curriculum for Excellence (Early Level) and Pre-Birth to Three guidance.
- A flexible approach and the ability to adapt to change.
Qualifications:
Candidates must hold one of the following:
- NNEB (or modular equivalent)
- HNC in Childhood Practice
- SVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Social Services (Children and Young People)
Successful candidates who are not already registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) as practitioners will be required to do so within 3 months of their appointment.
Requirements
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2020 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found here.
Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.
