TRUST DOCTOR (FY2-ST1-2) IN SOLID ONCOLOGY

We have an exciting post supporting Solid Oncology patients on the Chemotherapy Day Unit/ CAU at St Bartholomew’s Hospital. It is a specialised Cancer and Cardiac teaching hospital and is home to many eminent Oncologists and Academics, with a strong culture of research and innovation.

These positions would suit a post- F2 level doctor who is considering oncology as a career. The post is full-time working Monday to Wednesday 9am-5pm.

The Chemotherapy Unit has 60 chairs and is open 6 days a week.
Duties will include: reviewing patients attending for chemotherapy, managing acute toxicities of cancer treatment and assessing patients in your own clinic.

You will be supported by clinical teams of specialist registrars, consultants, specialist nurses and advanced practitioners. There is a Cancer Assessment Unit staffed separately.

You will be joining a team of 14 ‘ST1-2’ level Doctors which provides cover for oncology in- patients divided between solid tumour oncology and haemato-oncology.

We have established teaching programmes and journal clubs and also encourage attendance in out- patient clinics. You will have opportunities for audit projects and quality improvement projects and be mentored by one of our Consultants
The post will be based in the Department of Medical and Clinical Oncology

In the first instance, the post is for a fixed-term period of 6 months

The post would be suitable for junior doctors who wish to gain a period of focussed experience and training in oncology. They would be suitable for candidates who are attempting the second parts of the MRCP
