We're seeking a Cost Manager to join Movar's specialist consultancy team, delivering cost control, value optimisation, and commercial oversight on major infrastructure, utilities, and rail programmes across the UK and Dublin.
Founded in 2013, Movar is a specialist project delivery consultancy which helps organisations improve how projects are delivered. With over a decade of success behind them and ambitious growth ahead, they are building a team of project professionals who are curious, collaborative, and passionate about creating lasting change.
In this role, you'll take responsibility for the full cost management lifecycle from early-stage estimating and budget setting, through to forecasting, value engineering, and final account close-out. You'll work closely with clients, design teams, and contractors to ensure projects deliver maximum value without compromising quality or performance.
Expect a hands-on remit, from preparing detailed cost plans and conducting feasibility studies, to running value engineering workshops and producing clear financial reporting for senior stakeholders. You'll also play a key role in procurement support, contract analysis, and identifying cost-saving opportunities that keep complex, high-value projects on track.
This is a great opportunity to join a people-focused, growing consultancy where your voice will be heard, your ideas welcomed, and your contribution recognised. While Movar supports remote working, you'll need to travel to client sites and offices in the UK or Dublin as required.
Key Requirements: You should be a confident and commercially astute Cost Manager / Commercial Manager / Quantity Surveyor / Infrastructure Cost Manager or similar with a CV that demonstrates:
5+ years experience in cost management within infrastructure, utilities, or rail
Proven track record on projects exceeding £10m in value
Expertise in cost planning, estimating, and forecasting
Strong commercial acumen and market knowledge
Proficiency in value engineering and cost optimisation
Knowledge of standard forms of contract (NEC, JCT, FIDIC) and their cost implications
Excellent stakeholder management and client relationship skills
A relevant degree (Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or similar) and ideally MRICS or working towards chartership
You'll ideally be based in the UK or Dublin with flexibility to travel. Permanent and contract opportunities are available, with competitive packages:
Permanent: Up to £80,000 + pension, life insurance, and benefits // Contract: £500/day (inside IR35)
Movar offers a supportive, collaborative culture where professional growth is encouraged, and your next project is always lined up. Apply today and join a team shaping the future of project delivery.
