About The Role

The Slimbridge team are looking to recruit a Retail Assistant Manager to work closely with the Trading Manager, you’ll co-lead a busy and vibrant retail operation, helping to shape an inspirational visitor experience that reflects the WWT brand. You’ll play a key role in achieving sales targets, optimising retail performance, and enhancing profitability – all while supporting a team of staff and volunteers.

What You'll Be Doing:
Deliver a warm, welcoming and engaging retail experience for every visitor.

Maximise sales through smart stock management, excellent visual merchandising, seasonal promotions, and membership upselling.

Support and develop a diverse team through coaching, supervision and training.

Manage day-to-day operations, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and food hygiene standards.

This is a full time role, working 37.5 hours per week, 5 days from 7, including weekend and bank holiday working.

About You

You’ll have proven experience in a fast-paced retail environment with a strong track record of delivering excellent customer service and meeting or exceeding targets. You are a natural motivator, confident in leading a team and passionate about creating a positive culture of learning, engagement, and continuous improvement.

You’ll Bring:
A-levels (or equivalent) and substantial retail experience

Confidence in supervising teams and managing resources

Knowledge of cash handling, stock control, and EPOS systems

A proactive, customer-focused mindset

A commitment to sustainability and WWT’s values
