About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated professional to join our team, delivering high-quality science education to students across Key Stages 3 and 4. The ideal candidate will be an expert in their field, capable of designing and delivering a curriculum that not only meets educational standards but also sparks genuine curiosity and wonder. This is an excellent opportunity for either an experienced teacher or an Early Career Teacher (ECT) to develop their skills within a nurturing and supportive department that prioritises collaboration and innovative teaching methods.

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent UK teaching qualification.
  • A clear and up-to-date Enhanced DBS check.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Knowledge of the current UK science curriculum and exam frameworks.

Skills:

  • A clear and confident communication style.
  • Expertise in a core science discipline (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics).
  • The ability to use data to inform lesson planning and student interventions.
  • Competence in using a range of educational technologies.
  • Ability to mentor and support students through academic challenges.
  • A creative approach to developing and delivering curriculum content.
  • Teamwork and the ability to work effectively within a large department.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver comprehensive and engaging science lessons for students.
  • Lead and supervise practical experiments, adhering to all safety guidelines.
  • Assess and evaluate student work, providing clear and actionable feedback.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
  • Contribute to the development of the science curriculum and teaching resources.
  • Track student progress and implement targeted support where necessary.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan schemes of work and share resources.
  • Maintain professional competence through ongoing training and self-reflection.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Actively participate in the wider school community and extracurricular offerings.
