Your new company
Hays Recruitment are proud to be supporting a Northwich-based mainstream high school as they are looking to appoint a number of highly motivated and reliable teaching assistants to support pupils with a myriad of special education needs (SEN) within the resource provision. This school is looking to appoint a minimum of 4 teaching assistants to full-time temporary contracts, 32.5 hours per week.

Your new role
As a teaching assistant within this school, you will support the resource base class teacher in all aspects of your pupils' academic outcomes by assisting in the delivery of an inclusive, engaging and stimulating learning environment by utilising an array of learning equipment and tailoring your approach to best suit pupils' needs. As you will be based within the schools resource provision, you will offer 1:1 support to all pupils on a required basis, ensuring that their individual academic and attainment needs are met as well as their EHCP's. Your duties will vary depending on the pupil you are supporting, with typical duties consisting of speech and language interventions, social skill sessions, implementation of positive behaviour strategies and the use of PECs, Makaton and visual aids. As well as supporting pupils within the resource base, you may at times be asked to assist in other classes across the school, delivering interventions in key areas to lower/mixed ability pupils as identified by class teachers.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as a minimum of 40 days referenceable classroom experience within the last 2 years, as well as:

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEN (special educational needs)
  • Experience using PECs and Makaton
  • The ability to effectively manage behaviours and deliver positive behaviour strategies
  • An NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification is advantageous but not essential
