Your new company
Hays Recruitment are proud to be supporting a Northwich-based SEN secondary school as they are looking to appoint two motivated and reliable teaching assistants for full-time temporary contracts to cover maternity leave. It is an extremely academic SEN school with the majority of pupils having capacity and working in line with the KS3 and KS4 national curriculum. This may lead to a permanent appointment for the right person.
Your new role
As a teaching assistant within this school, you will support across all year groups on a required basis, offering 1:1 and group support to your pupils. You will actively encourage your new pupils to take part and give valid input during lessons, aiding them to reach their full academic potential. With you now working within an SEN school, all of your new pupils have individual EHCP's, with a variety of different needs, but all are working at capacity and are able to access the curriculum. Due to this, there is a huge focus on pupils academic outcomes. To support this, you will offer intervention and booster sessions in all core subjects, including Maths, English, History, Geography and Science. As you build strong relationships with your pupils you will begin to identify those that are falling behind on the curriculum and offer them 1:1 interventions within a separate classroom and liaise with the class teacher on their progress. Other duties will include break/ lunchtime duties, behaviour management, and GCSE preparation towards the latter end of the academic year.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered in your application you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK, have referenceable experience within a KS3 or KS4 classroom, and:
- Have experience supporting moderate SEN is advantageous but not essential
- Experience delivering intervention and booster sessions in core subjects
- An NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification is advantageous but not essential
What you'll get in return
If you are successful in your application, you will receive the full support, dedication and guidance of a senior DfE accredited recruitment consultant, as well as a wide range of benefits, which include:
- Free training
- Upfront cost of DBS covered
- Long-term contract
- Full holiday entitlement
- Company pension scheme
- Competitive rate of pay
- Potential to be given a permanent contract
- Access to exclusive vacancies
- Refer a Friend scheme
