The Role

As a Graduate Trainee Teacher of Mathematics, you’ll join a committed and knowledgeable maths department. With personalised mentoring and a gradual increase in responsibility, you’ll build the subject knowledge, teaching skills, and classroom confidence needed to become an effective and inspiring educator.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the planning and delivery of engaging maths lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4


  • Deliver small-group sessions to reinforce numeracy skills and support students’ progress


  • Contribute to the development of teaching materials, schemes of work, and assessment tools


  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes curiosity and resilience in mathematics


  • Take part in weekly training sessions and benefit from one-to-one mentoring throughout the year


  • Engage in whole-school initiatives, extracurricular maths clubs, and departmental projects


    Person Specification
    • A minimum of a 2:1 degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a closely related subject


    • A strong interest in secondary education and a genuine enthusiasm for teaching maths


    • Experience working with young people (e.g., tutoring, mentoring, volunteering) is advantageous


    • Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills


    • A reflective approach to professional learning and a commitment to continuous development
