The Opportunity
Are you a graduate looking to gain meaningful classroom experience before starting a career in teaching? A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Birmingham is seeking a dedicated Graduate Primary Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2025.
This full-time, term-time only role is ideal for aspiring primary teachers preparing for teacher training in 2026 or beyond. You'll work closely with experienced educators, supporting children across Key Stage 1 (KS1) and Key Stage 2 (KS2), helping to make a real impact on their learning and development.
Key Responsibilities
As a Graduate Primary Teaching Assistant, your role will involve:
• Supporting teachers in delivering engaging and creative lessons across the primary curriculum
• Providing targeted one-to-one and small group support in subjects such as English, Maths, and Phonics
• Assisting with behaviour management and contributing to a calm, inclusive classroom environment
• Supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and those needing additional academic or emotional guidance
• Helping pupils build confidence, resilience, and a love for learning
• Getting involved in school trips, enrichment clubs, and extracurricular activities
Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking enthusiastic and motivated graduates who meet the following criteria:
• Minimum 2:2 degree in any subject (Education, Psychology, English or related fields are particularly welcome)
• A passion for working with children and supporting their learning
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A caring, adaptable, and energetic approach to classroom support
• Prior experience working with children (e.g., in schools, tutoring, mentoring, camps, youth work) is highly desirable
• A clear ambition to pursue a career in primary education
