Are you a recent Psychology graduate passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience as a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant in a welcoming primary school in Birmingham, starting in September 2025.
This full-time, term-time only role is ideal for aspiring Educational or Clinical Psychologists, SEN professionals, or future teachers. As a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in supporting pupils with a range of needs—particularly those with autism, ADHD, and social-emotional challenges—helping them thrive in an inclusive classroom environment.
Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant - Key Responsibilities
• Support pupils with SEN in both 1:1 and small group settings
• Assist in delivering tailored interventions to promote learning and behaviour
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to implement support strategies
• Encourage emotional wellbeing and resilience in young learners
• Help adapt classroom resources to meet individual pupil needs
• Contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment
Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant - Who We’re Looking For
We are seeking an empathetic and motivated graduate who meets the following criteria:
• A minimum 2:1 degree in Psychology (or related subject)
• Passion for SEN, education, and supporting mental wellbeing
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Patient, proactive, and compassionate attitude
• Some experience with children or young people with SEN (e.g., in schools, youth work, care, tutoring) – desirable
• Interest in progressing to careers in education, psychology, or youth work
