Are you a recent Psychology graduate with a strong interest in Special Educational Needs (SEN)? A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Birmingham is seeking a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team in September 2025.
This full-time, term-time only role is an excellent opportunity for aspiring Educational or Clinical Psychologists, SEN professionals, or future teachers. You’ll gain valuable, hands-on experience supporting pupils with a range of needs—including autism, ADHD, and emotional or behavioural challenges—within a supportive and inclusive environment.
Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant – Key Responsibilities
• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN
• Assist in delivering tailored academic and behavioural interventions
• Work collaboratively with class teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to implement effective support plans
• Support pupils’ emotional wellbeing, confidence, and resilience
• Help adapt teaching resources and materials to suit individual learning needs
• Contribute to building a nurturing and inclusive classroom culture
Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant – Who We’re Looking For

• Minimum 2:1 degree in Psychology or a related subject
• Passion for SEN, inclusive education, and child development
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Previous experience working with young people with SEN (e.g., in schools, care, youth work, tutoring) – desirable
• Clear ambition to pursue a career in education, psychology, or related fields
