The Opportunity

Are you a recent Science graduate eager to kickstart a career in education? An outstanding secondary school in Birmingham is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Graduate Science Teaching Assistant to join their team in September 2025.

This full-time, term-time only position offers the ideal foundation for aspiring teachers planning to pursue formal training in 2026 or later. You'll gain invaluable classroom experience by supporting Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, working with passionate staff in a highly supportive setting.

Key Responsibilities

As a Graduate Science Teaching Assistant, your role will include:

• Assisting Science teachers in delivering dynamic lessons in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
• Providing one-to-one and small group academic support to help students excel
• Supporting the setup and delivery of practical experiments and managing Science resources
• Contributing to classroom management and behaviour strategies
• Encouraging student participation and enthusiasm for Science
• Taking part in extracurricular activities, including STEM or Science clubs

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for motivated Science graduates who meet the following criteria:

• A minimum 2:1 degree in a Science-related field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Natural Sciences, Engineering)
• A strong passion for Science and education
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A proactive and supportive approach to learning
• A genuine desire to work with young people and pursue a career in teaching
• Previous experience working with young people (tutoring, mentoring, volunteering) is a plus, but not essential
