08:00 – 16:00 (7.5 hours per day)

Here at Serco, we’re looking for a Mechanical Craftsperson to join our Estates department at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital. This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a diverse engineering environment providing a wide scope for development of skills and knowledge as well as making a positive difference in supporting the NHS and community we support.
Reporting into the Mechanical Supervisor the Mechanical Craftsperson will be part of the engineering team providing planned preventative and reactive maintenance services across the Norfolk & Norwich Hospital site as part of Serco’s Hard FM estates service to the NHS.
The post holder will ensure that the hospitals’ building, fabric, plant, services and equipment are maintained to a high standard and ensure their continued safety, efficiency and reliability. They will carry out maintenance and repairs on a large variety of plant and equipment to include but not limited to:
- Medium Temperature Hot Water systems
- Steam systems, pipelines and associated equipment and safety devices.
- Hot and cold water systems including cold water service tanks, calorifiers, thermostatic mixing valves etc.
- Hydrotherapy pool
- Medical gas systems
- Decontamination equipment
- Ventilation/air handling systems
- Pump overhauls
- Equipment repairs
- Systems balancing and testing etc.
- An awareness of electrical and building management/control systems would also be beneficial.
What you’ll need to do the role:
- Completed a recognised appropriate Engineering Apprenticeship or other relevant structured Training Program, appropriate City & Guilds and/or BTEC certification (minimum NVQ Level 3).
- Proven experience of working in a similar environment.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of Mechanical Building Services.
- Ability to demonstrate a professional approach with strong awareness to health and safety.
- Effective communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work well in high pressure situations.
