The Resilience Manager works within the inclusive and innovative Cyber and Security team, part of the Information Directorate within Army Headquarters, a diverse and highly capable team. Resilience within the Army is understanding and mitigating threats and hazards to critical outputs. The Army's approach is to anticipate, prepare for, respond, and adapt to sudden disruptive events, across, cyber, physical and personnel, both malicious and non-malicious. This post is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to develop and progress their careers, working to a civilian line manager.
This exciting job role exists in the Principal Security Advisor's (PSyA) Team to identify, refine, govern and assure resilience and the corresponding risks across the Army, working within a wider team who are tasked with developing and assuring the Resilience Framework in the Army. The post holder will provide an advisory function on Defence Resilience matters including oversight and assurance of Defence Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) establishments and capabilities in Army.
There are three roles available, all of which sit within one of the Command structures: Field Army (FA), Home Command (HC) and Joint Aviation Command (JAC). The successful candidates will represent Army Security and Resilience within those Commands and will help provide the education and awareness needed to fully embed our framework and make the Army truly resilient. Your role will be to empower and enable the commands to undertake their resilience tasks.
The objective of Army resilience is to ensure a consistent and coherent approach to resilience and Business Continuity across the Army, with a particular focus on infrastructure, assets and key facilities that host Critical National Infrastructure or are essential to the delivery of Critical Defence Outputs. The successful candidates will be part of the Army Resilience Team but will physically sit out in the 3* commands, to give advice and help shape the resilience work: namely, that appropriate measures/response and plans are in place to minimise the impact of disruptions on people, processes, information, technology and infrastructure.
Secure behaviours play an integral role in protecting both the UK, and our Armed Forces, against external and internal threats. Through this role, you will have the opportunity to develop a broader understanding of the security risks facing the Army across the physical, cyber and personnel and resilience domains. You will also become a member of the Government Security Profession, and there are further opportunities for continued professional development.
We are looking for a talented and motivated individual who is a team player but is equally comfortable working on their own to assure physical, personnel, cyber and information security and resilience.
The successful candidate must be comfortable engaging with wider Defence, Government, and industry. Occasional travel within the UK will be required but this will rarely demand overnight stays.
The successful candidate will be required to:
Ensure a consistent and coherent approach to resilience and Business Continuity across the 3* Command and wider Army, with particular focus on infrastructure, assets and key facilities that host Defence Critical National Infrastructure (DEFCNI) or are essential to the delivery of Critical Defence Outputs (CDO), ensuring the most valuable asserts are protected and resilient
Support the identification, and annual review of Army sites that are part of the DEFCNI, providing assurance that they are being managed in accordance with Defence and Government Policy. Ensure and enable collaboration with the Army Counter Sabotage and Operational Resilience (CSOR) team. This will involve visiting other sites on which the Army operates
Support the Resilience Risk Manager with ensuring resilience risks from sites are identified and managed
Maintain resilience across the Army through education and awareness campaigns, both virtually and when visiting sites
Engage with Army Warning and Reporting Point (WARP) where security breaches have been reported which have an implication for a unit, site or Army resilience or our ability to respond to an event
Assist in preparing the Army Sector Security and Resilience Plan for submission to MOD, represent Army as required and act as the Secretary to Army Resilience Working Groups
Assist units and sites in developing their Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (DR) Plans. Gather Lessons Identified from actual resilience events or the testing of Business Continuity & DR plans
Work within the guidance and procedures listed in the Army Resilience Framework
If you are a strong communicator able to engage with stakeholders across government, work efficiently and at pace, across multiple IT systems and security classifications, we need you!
This post is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to develop and progress their careers. Appropriate training courses will be provided to ensure the candidate has the skills and knowledge required to perform the role. The MOD offers support and development in your career, including training as part of your role. In the Army we are passionate about delivering great things for our people. But we also know you will have a life outside of work; we respect your priorities and are committed to flexible working practices to give you freedom to balance work and life.
Remote working within this role is something that can be discussed at interview stages or with your future line manager if you are found successful.
