Summary
Havant Borough Council is seeking an experienced External Funding Officer to join our finance team and play a key role in
maximising external funding, grants and contributions available to the Council.
Position Overview
To identify, develop, and submit successful applications for external funding on behalf of the Council. The role will ensure the
Council is proactive and strategic in accessing a wide range of funding sources, including central government, lottery bodies,
philanthropic trusts, and other grant providers, to deliver on its strategic priorities.
Job Profile
The Grant Funding Officer plays a critical role in supporting the delivery of the Council’s strategic objectives by securing
external funding to enhance service delivery, unlock new initiatives, and enable innovation. By identifying and securing grant
funding, the role directly contributes to:
* Extending the impact of Council services beyond what could be achieved through core budgets alone.
* Scaling up or accelerating key projects aligned with corporate priorities (e.g. climate change, regeneration, health and
wellbeing, skills, and community resilience).
* Enabling the Council to respond flexibly to emerging needs and opportunities through targeted, time-limited funding streams.
* Maximising the value for money of Council resources by leveraging match-funding or partner contributions.
* Supporting a strategic and proactive funding approach that aligns with long-term goals and investment plans.
Through this work, the Grant Funding Officer helps ensure that the Council is well-positioned to take advantage of external
funding opportunities, enhancing its capacity to deliver meaningful outcomes for residents and communities.
