The NCHQ finance team underpins all aspects of Royal Navy activity, from budgeting for front line operations and personnel support, to overseeing programmes and ensuring robust financial governance. You will be part of a team that enables sounds financial decision making, supports policy development and ensures that public funds are spent responsibly.
Based at Navy Command Headquarters (NCHQ) in Whale Island Portsmouth, you’ll contribute to the planning and delivery of the UK’s defence objectives by helping to ensure the efficient use of financial resources. By providing the Budget Holder with financial advice on matters affecting their business areas both in the current year and across the longer term financial outlook you will aid in decision making, and helping shape the future.
In Navy Command, finance professionals play a key role in supporting the operational effectiveness of the Royal Navy. Civil servants work closely with military colleagues in roles that directly influence strategic planning, resource allocation and value for money assessments across critical defence operations. These roles offer strong job satisfaction and significant opportunities for professional growth, both within Navy Command and across the wider civil service.
