An Enhanced DBS is required for this role.
The initial training period, which typically lasts five weeks, will take place in the office. Upon completion, the role will transition to remote work, with the option for a hybrid arrangement if preferred.
There is potential for this role to be extended beyond the initial 14 weeks.
The role:
We are seeking a confident and compassionate individual to join the Adult Social Care team as a Contact Officer – the first point of contact for members of the public, professionals, and partner organisations. In this varied and fast-paced role, you’ll handle a wide range of enquiries, provide advice and information, support statutory referrals, and help initiate assessment processes.
You will also be responsible for accurately recording new referrals and ensuring they are passed on to the appropriate teams.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong communication skills, an interest in early intervention, and a strengths-based approach to supporting adults to achieve their goals. Ideally, you’ll have experience working in a busy environment, be confident on the phone and with IT systems, and have knowledge or experience of working in an adult social care or health setting.
Key responsibilities:
To be the first point of contact for professionals, and the general public requiring information or service
Ensuring that people contacting the Contact Centre receive a timely, courteous and helpful response
Administer the Crisis advice scheme in line with Local authority policy and guidance
Support the triaging process for safeguarding of vulnerable adults
Support the statutory work undertaken by the Approved Mental Health Team
Initiate the assessment process of adults requiring services
Support the Continuing Healthcare Team in screening referrals for their Team
What the client is looking for:
GCSE English or equivalent
Recent experience in social care or similar, with direct contact with members of the public and hospital environment
Experience in working as part of a team liaising with health and social care professionals
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Able to keep clear, accurate records
Organised, with ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Word
Ability to relate to wide range of people
Team player with a co-operative approach
Self-motivated and able to work independently
Awareness of social, legal, and political context within which social care services are delivered
