Job Overview
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and confident Moving and Handling Co-ordinator to become a team member of the Barts Health Moving and Handling Ergonomics Service. We are currently looking for a part- time Band 7 Moving and Handling Co-ordinator to provide training, support, and on-site leadership within Barts Health. The post holder will be primarily based at Whipps Cross Hospital, and you will be a member of the wider Moving and Handling Ergonomics team supporting patient safety and staff health and well-being and as such will be expected to contribute to service provision across the whole of Barts Health Trust and to visit the other sites as required.
The post holder will need at least a minimum of 18 months post qualification experience of working in a moving and handling environment providing teaching experience and formulating and delivering moving & Handling training courses within Health or Social Care Sector.
The Post Holders will be responsible for leading and supporting the development, implementation and maintenance of a Safe Moving and Handling Policy for all disciplines and grades of staff in accordance with relevant legislation. To take a strategic lead and provide competent advice and practical support to reduce the risk of musculoskeletal disease and injury to staff that may arise from their work, and to establish high standards of care in patient handling.

We are looking for a post holder who will need to be able to demonstrate that they have excellent written and verbal communication skills and good IT skills. The ability to work as an individual as well as part of a team is essential. Design specialist courses to meet changing healthcare requirements for all multi professional staff including moving and handling for medical and portering staff, midwifery handling courses, physiotherapy and occupational therapy workshops and inanimate load handling courses.

Demonstrate knowledge of relevant legal influences in the field, an understanding of the ergonomic principles involved, and of the risk assessment processes required. Work towards reducing musculoskeletal injuries arising from work related activity. Contribute to the control of risk and use the incident reporting system to alert the Trust of incidents or near misses that may compromise the quality of services.

· Provide training and an advisory service to managers and employees on Moving and Handling issues when requested
· To line manage and oversee the development, training, and support of the moving and handling trainers, with regular appraisal of performance in line with Trust policy.
